If the theory of infinite universes is correct, then all the events in our universe are the result of the probability of them happening. This is based on what we currently know about the probability of finding a particle in the quantum realm. We can expect a particle to be in a certain place at a certain time, but there are no guarantees, only probabilities of it being there. Likewise, events in life take place due to probabilistic determinism. An infinite variety of events take place in an infinite amount of parallel universes, but due to probability there are certain events that are more likely to occur in them than others. This is why whenever something happens that could have gone either way, we are likely to feel the effects of what didn’t happen more strongly than an event which was less likely to occur. When this happens we are feeling the unconscious sensations of our souls in other universes, whose portals may be buried in the pineal gland and seep through whenever we reminisce about certain events. Sometimes the power of these events can stay with us and influence the choices we make, due to the large number of times the opposite happened in other universes.
For example, if you’ve ever had a near death experience, you may have died fifty percent of the time in other universes as opposed to staying alive in this one. As a result, a part of you already feels dead because you will have been dead in these other lives. This is why you are more likely to be in tune with the "other side" if you’ve faced death straight in the eye, and all the wiser for it. Conversely, there are times when you may have been close to taking a path that could have benefited you, but shied away from it due to fear, or something outside your control that prevented you from pursuing it. The experiences of these other lives are echoing through the chambers of your soul and influencing the way you feel. Most people call these feelings ghosts of the pasts or opportunities passed up on. If it’s any consolation, there are universes in which you took the right path and were all the better for it.
Unfortunately, we can’t pick and choose which universes to model the real one on. Ours is the only real universe and the others exist in our imagination* as the universes that could have been. The laws, constants, and events in our universe are the result of probabilities, making it “imperfect” and an outlier in some respects. I’m sure that there is some physical law in our universe that happens to be an outlier (such as size, density, ratio of antimatter, etc..), and for that we are far different than the other universes that could have been. It’s just as likely as you having been born with six fingers, or a genius intellect. If our universe was “perfect” and had each of its most probable qualities, everything would make logical sense and we wouldn’t need philosophy.
*I believe in dreams we are able to visit these parallel universes and see what’s going on. They are often referred to as astral planes.
