A beast marked, castrated by rings,
Muscles leashed by tenderness,
Philosophy subverted by love,
Lured into that domestic trap
Like so many others before him.
It was madness, this circus, this zoo,
This city around him, caging him,
Pushing his buttons, smothering freedom,
Erecting boundaries, polluting intelligence.
He was rabid, he was whimsical,
Rules didn't matter, "normal" didn't exist,
Everyone was fake, everyone was dead.
Then he met her, a savior idealized,
Whose beauty, charm and generosity
Were meant to release him from that system.
The illusion took hold, made him still,
Deceived his ego, shattered his vision,
Stalled his imagination, escalated his pulse,
Boxed him into a cubicle in some charred office
On the industrial sector, happy to find normalcy,
Happy to finally settle down.
Until one day he realized the person he married
Had everything he hated about modernity,
The rampant shopping, the disregard for nature,
The compulsive sterilization, the hypersensitivity,
The obsession with order, placement, comfort,
The banishment of danger, the crucifixion of anger,
The constant surveillance, the unbearable criticism,
A derailed psychology the nightingale remitted.
Yet he loved her, he wanted to change for her,
He let her spirit touch his, slow him down,
Find some peace in his heart, exile his passions,
Which never gave him anything but trouble.
He gave his life to her, society personified,
For there was nothing else that needed him.

A Social Marriage

Atlas Fallen
Distant pleadings, musical prayers,
Filter in whispers through the paper,
Each memory reflecting choices tinted
By oleander scales in origami skies,
Hymnal choirs sanctified by hope.
Dawn breaks, arms embrace,
Open lips lock, oaths entwine,
Seas rise, gates open, the globe spins,
Weaving help through dire straits,
Atlas fallen the angels navigate.
I chose her, the stainless one,
Saintly as a snowdrop in spring,
Tidal resistance sparing her shore,
Unlocking her warmth in lofty parcels,
Soapy eddies enswirling the currents,
Answers soaring over the horizon strong.
North we sail, selflessly in tune,
Bound to others yet hiding in shadows,
Ideals consumed, utopia conceded,
A mystery built out of love and war,
Safety, cleanliness, pain and growth,
Leading the way on a path of stardust.
