Immortality

By brook and by branch, by bedroom and book
Suffer not the foibles of life and take a good look
Celebrate child, for the daytime is gold
Learn these things I teach and you shall never grow old

Love is a nonverbal vibration that two people feel
Whether you’re together or alone, you’re loved nonpareil
Every day you are thought of, by family and friend
So don’t wallow in loneliness, or you’ll meet a swift end

Give often, give much, lend your riches to learn
That what you give others is what you get in return
Be kind and be courteous, even with rascal and shrew
For the way you treat others is the way they treat you

Forgive and forget, hold grudges less frequent
Or bitterness will haunt you with furious treatment
If you are wronged, yield that folly to the forces of fate
Don’t let their failures cause ferocity and hate

Indulge in good things as often you please
But take them in moderation, or you’ll get a disease
For too much of anything creates a disturbance
Causing body and mind to sway in turbulence

Desire is deadly, especially that which is most
So release your possessions and don’t be a ghost
Let go of the past, an open mind will not haunt you
Live in the present, make awareness a virtue

You create your own life as much as you may
As destiny lets you decide for most of the way
Your future depends on the character you withdraw
All else is written by the cosmic jigsaw

Stay true to yourself, be strong and not fake
Don’t let the scorn of others exploit a mistake
Death is only the beginning, so rejoice for the sky
Follow these rules and you’ll live when you die
