Layla's Dream

Layla’s dream paints a starry sunset of music.
Cherry blossoms in her hair, those pink orbs
Extended from the seed of her heart,
Exfoliate on the seashore where she waves her arms
Trying to capture butterflies inside her hands.
Her smile glows like the arc-bottom of the sun
Descending on the horizon out over the ocean,
Where each star makes its appearance
At the strike of a chime, so that all together
They tinkle and twinkle, in unison.
Suddenly the solar smile becomes blocked
By the Earth, showing only its top half,
Transforming it into a frown as night sets in.
She spins her feet around on the sand
Pretending she is a carousel that takes people away,
Its horses vessels of freedom,
Its lights traveling at the speed of laughter.
