A common dream people have is being naked in front of strangers. In his Interpretation of Dreams, Freud called it a repressed wish of exhibition deep seeded from early youth, when it was socially acceptable to be naked and we weren't expected to cover ourselves. I would take it a step further and argue in favor of what is probably a more Jungian interpretation, though I've never seen it in his literature. The source of nakedness in most dreams is Biblical, prehistoric. The feeling of being naked is an ancient, primitive one that we abandoned once we decided that biological urges were nasty, clothes should be worn, and the Tree of Knowledge should be harvested. The collective interpretation of this dream is as archetypal as they get. And though I have never personally had this dream, it indicates some latent wish to be revealed, released, exposed to the material freedom we had during our bestial origins.
