Home Improvement

Each room in every house
Holds little pieces of who we are,
Symbols, emblems, gifts, portraits,
Things that sculpted our history
Into 3-D collages of our own space.
A room has a personality of its own,
Designed by sequences of items,
Engineered by dwellers within,
Reflecting harmonized elements,
So that both become entwined
In the same archetypal song.
Like organs in our bodies, rooms
Provide the functions of a house,
Working collectively to operate it,
A whole body, injected with life,
Built out of pieces of you.
