At about 9 in the morning, I told my boss Jay that I hadn't seen it rain this much in a while. Boy was I right. By then, Seatac had measured almost 2 inches of rain since midnight- 3.5 inches in 24 hours. It continued to rain all day, though the rate slowed down by mid-afternoon.
It's the first time since October 20, 2003 that I can remember it raining like that all day long. That was when Seatac's infamous record of 5.02 inches fell in one day. Like today, there were puddles on the road in places I'd never seen before.
As of now (9pm), Seatac's at 3.08 inches and climbing, good enough for fifth in Seattle's history. Apparently, December 3, 2007 was the second wettest day in our history (3.74 in.), though I have no memory of it happening despite studying atmospheric science at the time. I must have been too burned out by college and studying the weather to care.
