Finished reading The Midnight Library, by Matt Haig. Spoiler alert- hopeless woman tries to kill herself, wakes up in a library where she can read books that put her in parallel lives that she made different choices in. I loved how she found out her original life was better than most of the other highfalutin ones. The only one she liked was the simple life, made possible by a seemingly inconsequential decision. She then resumes her original life, choosing to value every moment, because every moment counts.
This book is insanely popular right now- in the top 5 on Goodreads' most read of the month. I think it will be high on the charts for some time, as it's one of those books that resonates strongly with the human spirit. It demonstrates a core spiritual lesson; one of those books that seems like fiction but can still apply to everyday life. The Shaft was similar.
