About a week ago, Seattle started experiencing its worst heat wave in recorded history. They're saying it was a one-in-10,000 year event, as temperatures soared a few degrees above the old record to 107F at Sea-tac. At its peak, we could not stay inside the house because the AC was not working strong enough. We just drove around in our new SUV, trying to stay cool with the AC on full blast. It barely worked. 800 people died in this event- another northwest record, this time for a natural disaster.
