Magnetic Music of the Spheres

A recent discovery has given new meaning to Plato's "Music of the Spheres", a concept that describes the speed of the planets being in harmony with each other.  While in Plato's view, and later on Kepler's, the supposed music can't be heard by human ears, this discovery means it can.  Researchers from the European Space Agency's (ESA) Cluster Mission have recorded a type of “song” the Earth's magnetic field sings when it's hit by a solar storm.

The implication is phenomenal.  It suggests that any cosmic body with a magnetic field, including most stars, planets, and even galaxies, have the ability to communicate by sound on some level across very large distances.  I say "some level" because it isn't literal sound they've recorded; it's only a reconstruction of the magnetic waves that are enhanced during a solar storm, matching frequency with pitch.  However, with the right set of ears, certain species out there might be able to hear them, least of all the planets and stars.

Plato and Kepler's metaphysical theories about the movement of the planets makes a little sense, especially when considering astrological forces, which may affect human personalities (though probably not).  Quantum entanglement would offer the kind of resonance such music could conduct on physical locations or material beings.  But the extra variable of magnetism adds a little more to the puzzle.  Something as little understood as magnetism could provide a path for astronomy and astrology to finally reach a consensus.  You see, worlds really do collide.
